Methodology for evaluating technical indicators
Sources
The sources correspond to companies that independently compare tires on the basis of a constant methodology, including the maximum number of tire quality criteria, and give objective estimates based on test results for a group of similar tires depending on the type of use.
This database includes only those sources that meet these criteria. These criteria also apply to each source test.
Sources used to determine tire performance:
- Test results published in specialized publications.
- Data obtained according to Regulation (EC) 1222/2009 “On tire marking in relation to fuel efficiency and other essential parameters”. Or Ratings used in tire labeling (MOBS *) in the absence of official data.
- Data published by independent testing laboratories.
A detailed list of sources (with the exception of EU Regulation 1222/2009) used to evaluate the rating of each product is attached to the publication.
Assessment Scheme
The final assessment consists of 9 basic indicators, which are supplemented by 4 other basic indicators for winter tires.
The basic indicators are divided into 5 groups: 3 - for summer tires, 2 - for winter tires.
Each base indicator takes a different weight coefficient in its group based on the degree of its significance in the category.
Below are the groups of indicators and their basic indicators:
Main factors
Saving
- Durability
- Fuel economy
Winter performance
Snow
- Braking in the snow
- Acceleration in the snow
Comfort
- Roughness absorption
- Grip
- Rolling noise
Ice
- Braking on ice
- Acceleration on ice
Security
- Dry braking
- Wet braking
- Wet resistance
- Aquaplaning resistance
Calculation method
Each base indicator is evaluated according to the following principle:
A rating of 10 points is assigned to the tire that received the best result for a particular test.
The rating of other tires decreases in proportion to the obtained standard deviation of the discriminant.
All results exceeding 9 times this standard deviation, get a score of 1.
If the source uses its own rating system (which is not based on a 10-point system), then linear recoding is performed.
The final assessment of the basic indicators will be based on the arithmetic average of the estimates obtained from the results of each test.
Note: tests conducted by automobile magazines or specialized organizations are usually based on the most common sizes on the market. Despite the fact that the tire performance may vary slightly depending on the size, we preferred to assign an assessment of the entire size panel of a particular tire model.
How to overcome fear of driving
How to overcome fear of driving? This feeling is experienced by many people - both novices and experienced drivers who have suffered psychological trauma, drivers after a long break in driving.
Today we will talk about fear of the car itself, of its driving, expensive and self-confidence.
The first thing to do is to overcome it. And how to do it, how to overcome the fear of driving - we will tell in this article.
Consider the three categories of drivers most often afraid of driving a car:
- newbies
- drivers after an accident,
- drivers after a long break.
For each of these categories, we consider the causes of fears and ways to overcome them.
How to overcome the fear of driving a beginner
Beginners are the most unpopular and at the same time “clogged” caste on our roads. Nervous, unpredictable, often inhibited behavior often provokes other drivers to aggression, creates traffic jams and emergency situations. However, continuous signals and blinking headlights will not help the beginner. And our task, as more experienced and conscious drivers, is to help him adapt more quickly in the flow of traffic and not create excessive nervousness. After all, each of us went through this. Remember yourself before honking and understanding.
The beginner himself knows about his fear of the road, car and traffic. The source of any fear is the unknown, the probability of getting into an accident. Before a newcomer traveling to the city for the first time without an instructor, there is a problem with several unknowns at once:
- how will the car behave, will it not break?
- Will I handle the management?
- Will I forget the meaning of a particular sign or road marking?
- Will I violate the traffic rules inattention?
- Will I get into an accident?
Each beginner has such questions in his head constantly. With the accumulation of experience, self-confidence, synchronization of the conscious and unconscious (for example, analysis of the traffic situation and gear shifting), these issues are gradually removed one after another, in different sequences. According to experts, the fear of driving is almost impossible to overcome with the help of trainings and psychological techniques - they are solved only by practical experience. To stop being afraid to ride, you need to ride more!
To some extent, to prepare a person psychologically, to tell him what situations and what “polite” drivers he will encounter during his first independent trip, how to react to such an attitude is the primary task of a mentor-instructor. Unfortunately, very little attention is paid to this in schools, and sometimes they are not taught at all.
